Type of Study: Asthma

Age: 18 and older

Details: This study is being conducted to find out if taking vitamin D in addition to an inhaled steroid will help prevent worsening asthma symptoms and asthma attacks. Study requires 11 visits over 35 weeks. 4 visits will be approximately 2 hours long.

Qualified individuals will receive at no charge: Vitamin D and an FDA-approved asthma medication, lab tests, breathing tests, and study-related physical exams.

Details: Participants must currently use inhaled steroid to treat asthma. Study requires 10 evening office visits over 6 months; 1 overnight visit. Qualified volunteers will receive at no charge, study-related study medication, breathing and lab tests, and physical exams.

Age: 40 years of age or older 

Details: Participants must be a previous or current smoker and diagnosed with COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease). BMI (body mass index)  must be less than 40. Qualified participants will receive study-related doctor's visits, EKG's, lung function test, and study medication at no cost to you. Study requires 7 visits over a 26-week period.

Compensation: Up to $950

Type of Study: Acute Respiratory Infection

Age: 12 years of age or older

Details: A cllinical research study on the effects of an FDA approved medication in reducing cold symptoms. Participants must have recently developed moderate to severe symptoms of at least 2 of the following: cough, thickened mucus or chest congestion. Study requires 4 visits over 8 - 10 days.

Compensation: Up to $300 for time and travel.

Details: Participants must be a previous or current smoker and diagnosed with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD). Qualified participants will receive study-related doctor's visits, EKG's, lung function test, and study medication at no cost to you. Study requires 3 office visits over a 3-week period.

Compensation: Up to $250

Details: This research study involves an investigational medicine for healthy individuals with moderate to severe asthma. Qualified participants will receive at no charge: study-related breathing tests, lab tests, and physical exams. Study requires 15 office visits over a 6-month period.
